Classic Kombi or modern campervan?
Choose a classic VW Kombi if you want the experience: original 1970s-80s Westfalia campers with a pop-up roof, kitchen and a local host who teaches you to drive it and prepares your route. Choose a modern campervan if you need air conditioning, a bathroom on board or long distances at highway speed. The Kombi Experience is the classic option in Tulum.

What you get with a classic Kombi
An original Westfalia with its own name and story: The Kiwi (1983) or The Orange (1976).
Bed, pop-up roof, kitchen, cooler, solar shower and everything to cook and camp.
A driving lesson and tips from Martin, plus his route book with cenotes and places to sleep.
What you don’t get (and why people love it anyway)
No air conditioning, no bathroom on board, manual gearbox and a relaxed 70 km/h. Windows open, slow roads, more stops: travelling like in the 70s.
If you plan very long distances in a few days, a modern van will be more practical.
